Beta-Glucan belongs to the pharmaceutical excipients group. Supplied by ISF CHEM.
Beta-glucan is a simple polysaccharide extracted from the cell wall of baker's yeast. It is a fully natural dietary supplement that has long been recognized as an immune system support ingredient, because it binds to specific receptors on macrophages (white blood cells), which form the first line of defense of the immune system, and thereby activates the immune system.
Beta-glucan helps increase the body's resistance to viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. Monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes and natural killer cells have specific surface receptors that recognize and bind beta-glucan. These receptors bind to specific structures of beta-glucan chains, allowing beta-glucan to act as an immune system stimulant. Beta-glucan is a good regulator of the immune system.
