Croscarmellose Sodium, CAS 74811-65-7, is a raw material used as disintegrant in pharmaceutical, food supplements applications. Supplied by ISF CHEM.
Cross-linked sodium carboxymethylcellulose. Used as a superdisintegrant excipient in tablets and capsules.
In the pharmaceutical industry, croscarmellose sodium is used as a binder for tablets and as an emulsifying stabilizer for injections.
The largest use of croscarmellose sodium is as a component of soap and synthetic detergents. It is added at approximately 1% to heavy-duty cleaners, where it prevents soil from redepositing onto fabrics. In addition, croscarmellose sodium is used as a suspension stabilizer for drilling fluids in the petroleum industry.
In detergents, croscarmellose sodium is used as an anti-redeposition agent for soil, especially on hydrophobic synthetic fabrics, and its soil anti-redeposition effect is excellent.
In oil and gas drilling, shallow well and other projects, croscarmellose sodium used in petroleum drilling can serve as a suspension stabilizer and water-retention agent to effectively protect the oil. Typically, the dose is 2.3 t for shallow wells and 5.6 t for deep wells.
In the textile industry, croscarmellose sodium is used as a sizing agent and dyeing auxiliary to increase the solubility and viscosity of sizing agents and facilitate textile printing and hard finishing.
It is used as an anti-settling agent, emulsifier, flatting agent and paint binder, allowing paint solids to be evenly dispersed in solvents, and it is also commonly used in oil-based paints to prevent long-term delamination.
It is used as a flocculant to remove calcium ions; when used for cation exchange, its exchange capacity can reach 1.6 ml/g.
In the paper industry, it is used as a paper sizing agent, clearly improving dry strength, wet strength, oil resistance, ink absorbency and water resistance of paper.
In toothpaste, it is used as a cosmetic and hydrosol thickener at a dose of approximately 5%.
Croscarmellose sodium can be used in food products such as beverages, biscuits, puffed foods, ice cream, cakes, jellies and gelatin as a moderate-use substitute for thickening, emulsifying, auxiliary, preserving and other functions, in place of agar, sodium alginate and xanthan gum.
Croscarmellose sodium can also be used in electronics, pesticides, leather, commonly used flocculants, chelating agents, emulsifiers, thickeners, water-retention agents, sizing agents, film-forming materials for plastics, printing, ceramics, daily chemicals and other fields.
